Interventional Pulmonology

Interventional Pulmonology is a medical subspecialty that focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of lung diseases and disorders. It combines the use of advanced diagnostic and therapeutic techniques to treat both benign and malignant diseases of the lungs, airways, and pleura. Interventional pulmonologists are experts in minimally invasive procedures such as bronchoscopy, endobronchial ultrasound, laser ablation, electrocautery, and cryotherapy. These procedures are used to diagnose and treat conditions such as lung cancer, airway stenosis, emphysema, and cystic fibrosis.

Interventional Pulmonology is also used in the treatment and management of complex medical problems such as an obstructive sleep apnea, obstructive lung disease, pulmonary embolism, and pulmonary hypertension. Interventional pulmonologists also work closely with other specialists such as cardiologists, radiologists, and thoracic surgeons in the evaluation and treatment of complex pulmonary diseases. The goal of Interventional Pulmonology is to improve the quality of life of patients with lung diseases by providing early diagnosis and treatment.
